Jim Zorn helps raise over $60,000 at the Federal Way/Auburn Boys & Girls Club Breakfast

Summary

The Federal Way/Auburn Boys & Girls Club holds its annual breakfast fundraiser each spring to raise money to benefit the clubs operations

Story

This year’s Boys & Girls Club keynote speaker was the Seattle Seahawks’ first quarterback, Jim Zorn.

Zorn spoke to the packed room with his inspirational words on how youth programs like the Boys & Girls Club help young children grow into productive members of society by providing a positive influence and environment. Zorn stressed that these two characteristics (influence and environment) can create success anywhere, whether it is a Boys and Girls Club or an NFL team.

In addition to being the Seahawks’ first star player, Zorn played for 11 seasons, coached notable quarterbacks such as Joe Flacco and Matt Hasselbeck, and was the Head Coach at the Washington Redskins.

Zorn encouraged the nearly 500 people to give to the Boys & Girls Club, which does so much to empower our youth. Thanks to all who gave time and money, the Boys & Girls Club was able to beat last year’s total by raising $61,215.

“I am pleased with the amount we were able to raise for South King County kids,” said 2015 Breakfast Chair Pete von Reichbauer. “Youth programs like the Boys & Girls Club help keep our youth out of the juvenile justice system and offer stable after-school programs that help shape their future.”

“According to recent studies, a youth incarcerated in Washington costs $132,000 per year,” said von Reichbauer.

The Federal Way/Auburn Boys & Girls Club holds its annual breakfast fundraiser each spring to raise money to benefit the clubs operations. Previous speakers have included Mariners Manager, Lloyd McClendon; Seahawks General Manager, John Schneider; NBA Hall-of-Famer, Lenny Wilkens; as well as former Governor and US Ambassador to China, Gary Locke.
