King County Earth Day 2021 celebration goes digital, including Green Globe Awards program led by Executive Constantine

King County is 2021_Earth_Day once again taking itsannual Earth Week celebration digital in 2021 with a week full of quizzes, Earth-friendly actions around the home, and other activities – culminating on with a special video presentation of the 2021 King County Green Globe Awards on Earth Day, April 22, led by Executive Dow Constantine.

Beginning Sunday, April 18, and continuing throughout the week, each King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks (DNRP) division – Wastewater, Solid Waste, Water and Land, and Parks and Recreation – will highlight what they are doing to ensure clean water and healthy habitat – and offer suggestions on how we can all pitch in for a healthier environment at home and across the county.

Throughout the week, DNRP will be posting environmental quizzes and activities on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, where families can test their knowledge about King County’s remarkable environment.

From tips on reducing food waste, to cutting harmful chemical and pesticide use around the home, and recycling right, DNRP experts can help everyone make better consumer choices that can save money and are easier on our planet. See all of the details at kingcounty.gov/earthday.

The highlight of Earth Week is coming on April 22 – Earth Day – when Executive Constantine leads a special program announcing the winners of the 2021 King County Green Globe Awards.

This year, Executive Constantine is honoring 13 individuals and organizations with Green Globe Awards. From organizations committed to reducing pollutants in stormwater, the community groups dedicated to building green sustainable homes for everyone regardless of their income, the 2021 Green Globe Award winners represent King County’s rich diversity. 

Each winning individual or organization will be featured in a short video presentation produced by DNRP and King County TV. The awards show will make its debut at 1:30 p.m. on April 22 on King County TV's Live Stream channel.
