The beaches at Golden Gardens and Discovery Park were reopened to the public on Saturday, May 1 following consecutive days of water testing that confirmed safe conditions. The beaches were closed out of an abundance of caution on April 29 following a wastewater bypass at West Point Treatment Plant.

The treatment plant was brought back online within 25 minutes and has resumed operating at full function.

King County notified health and regulatory agencies, tested water quality and had posted signs at the beaches warning people to avoid contact with the water over the next several days as a precaution to protect public health.
