Schools & education
Sustainable cities begin with education
“Green education” can mean many things: A weatherization training session at the local community center; a water conservation and gardening program at the elementary school; renewable energy technical training at the community college; and, improving education facilities to improve energy performance and ensure healthy environments for students and teachers.
All of these aspects of “green education” are essential to Sustainable Cities. Our Cities can both learn and teach. Make sure your City prioritizes education, both formally in schools, and more broadly to the community through workshops, training sessions, and online resources. Provide classes for homeowners and incorporate sustainability into schools and colleges. Make education facilities models of quality and durability. Remember that green buildings are excellent teaching tools, and green schools are building blocks of diverse, attractive, sustainable communities.
