“These are positive developments and I’m glad to see both sides returning to the bargaining table,” said King County Executive Dow Constantine. “I believe the parties can work toward reaching a fair and equitable resolution.”

“I am pleased that Waste Management and Teamsters Local 174 will return to the bargaining table,” said Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn.  “In order to avoid unnecessary service problems, I urge both sides to continue to negotiate in earnest until a fair settlement is reached.  It's not always easy, but it's a win-win when business works with labor to ensure the quality service our communities deserve, fair compensation for a hard day's work, and health and safety on the job.  I also want to take this opportunity to thank the men and women who work hard every day to keep our communities clean, healthy and safe.   Ultimately, a fair contract is good not only for both business and labor, but will result in high-quality service delivery to the people of Seattle.”
