Story

King County Executive Dow Constantine tonight accepted the 2012 James R. Ellis Regional Leadership Award, at the 53rd Annual Civic Awards Celebration Dinner at Herban Feast in the SODO area of Seattle.

In presenting the award, the Municipal League of King County recognized the Executive for what it called "his years of public service, efforts to bring a culture of high performance to King County, the completion of several major projects, and improved relationships with other jurisdictions."

In accepting the award, the Executive said:

"Jim Ellis is known as the 'father of Metro,' so I am humbled and honored tonight to receive this award named after him from the Municipal League of King County.

"We have made progress though partnerships across the region - whether fixing the Howard Hanson Dam, building a new South Park Bridge, convening a Regional Transit Task Force that moved us beyond political divisions, or building prosperity and creating jobs through the King County Aerospace Alliance.

"I look forward to extending our philosophy of continuous improvement throughout our daily work on behalf of the people of King County."
