King County and Dallas County leaders make charitable wager ahead of Kraken – Stars Game 7

Summary

King County Executive Dow Constantine and Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins made a friendly wager to donate $1,000 to local charities in Seattle and Dallas depending on the outcome of tonight’s definitive Game 7 between the Seattle Kraken and the Dallas Stars in the Second Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Story

With the Seattle Kraken battling back against the Dallas Stars over the weekend to even the Second Round series of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, tonight the two teams take the ice in a definitive Game 7 to advance to the Western Conference Finals. With the showdown looming, King County Executive Dow Constantine of Seattle and Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins have made a friendly wager for charity on tonight’s match.

If the Kraken prevail, Judge Jenkins will make a $1,000 donation to Seattle’s Downtown Emergency Service Center, an organization providing housing, shelter, health services and crisis response to thousands of homeless and formerly homeless people every day. If the Stars win, Executive Constantine will donate $1,000 to Metrocare, the largest provider of mental health services in Dallas County. The losing side will also wear the opposing team’s jersey at an upcoming public event as well.

“Having already battled throughout just their second season to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs and vanquished the defending champions, there is no creature more mysterious or dangerous than the Kraken,” said Executive Constantine. “This team has shown their might and determination throughout the playoffs and this incredible series, and I know tonight they will shine brighter than any star ever could.”

“I look forward to seeing the Stars put the Kraken on ice and skate their way to the Western Conference Finals en route to being one step closer to bringing the Stanley Cup back to Dallas again,” said Dallas County Judge Clay Lewis Jenkins.
