As of December 2020, all drafted Information Technology specifications have been finalized.

Commonly Used Terms

Definitions for commonly used terms in the Information Technology classifications. This list is subject to change and additional terms will be added as needed. 

Enterprise-wide - Impacts every employee or work group in the defined organization. May or may not include separately elected agencies.

Functional Area - Teams of employees (work groups) who are delivering defined work products or services.

Line of Business - A set of activities that produce a related set of products or services. A group focused on a single product or family of products. The Enterprise Capability that represents the general ability or functional capacity for a Resource or Organization to deal with or handle one or more Line of Business (LoB) Items. Such a term is often used by Information Technology (IT) Architects when performing or engaging in the activities associated with general Capability Modeling.

Major Outages and Issues - A planned or unplanned period of time that a system fails to provide or perform its primary function. Minor and/or Normal Outages and Issues - Planned or unplanned maintenance or degradation. May be low priority/severity systems and or technical issues. 

Product - A deliverable that is sent to (i.e. delivered) or received by a Customer, Consumer, Client, or Requester.

Program - A typically bundled set of multiple and interdependent Projects and/or Releases that are being delivered to meet a greater set of common Goals, Objectives, Outcomes or Imperatives.

Section - A series of multiple workgroup/teams, generally aligned with similar work products or services that report into a division. May or may not include managers and/or supervisors.

Technology - The specialized, repeatable and applicable aspects of a field of endeavor, some form of knowledge or intellectual capital.
