An ecolabel is a visual cue that a product, service, or company has an environmental certification, which confirms that a product meets a set of environmental standards or a set of desired attributes for that product, service, or company. King County adopts all of the ecolabels recommended by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as other third party certifiers which gives us assurance that we’re buying sustainably.

King County recommends the following ecolabels. An EPA checkmark indicates a certification is recommended by the EPA. If a checkmark appears in the column entitled “PFAS Addressed.” it means that the standard addresses "Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS)" - a large group of human-made chemicals widely used in industrial and consumer applications due to their unique physicochemical properties, such as water- and oil-repellence and high thermal stability.
