Rule & Regulation BOH 18-04
Relating to disclosure of information on health risks related to firearms


Required disclosure

Rule & Regulation BOH 18-04 applies to firearm retailers and shooting sports facilities and was adopted by the King County Board of Health on November 15, 2018. It requires firearm dealers conducting firearm sales or transfers to post a sign at the entrance of the site and at least one other place where sales or transfers occur, and also requires operators of shooting sports facilities to post a sign at the entrance of the facility and in areas where shooting is done, reading:

"WARNING: The presence of a firearm in the home significantly increases the risk of suicide, homicide death during domestic violence disputes and unintentional deaths to children, household members and others. (King County Board of Health Rule and Regulation BOH 18-04). If you or a loved one is experiencing distress and/or depression, call the Crisis Connections immediately at 866-427-4747, available 24 hours a day, or visit www.crisisconnections.org."
