North Highline Community Service Area Subarea Plan, Land Use and Zoning Map Amendments, and King County Code Amendments

The Public Review Draft of the Subarea Plan, Land Use and Zoning Map Amendments, and King County Code Amendments have been prepared based on input provided by the North Highline community over the past couple of years regarding its priorities for how it will grow over the next 20 years. The draft Subarea Plan contains a Community Vision Statement and numerous policies aimed at achieving the vision. The Map Amendments contain several proposed land use and zoning changes. Proposed amendments are intended to support increased housing density in key areas, retaining the character of White Center’s core, increasing commercial development opportunities, and encouraging pedestrian-oriented commercial development, among other proposals.

County staff members will gather comments on the Subarea Plan and map and code amendments during the dates listed above. Using this input, they will update the documents. The King County Executive will send the revised documents to the King County Council in early 2022. We expect the council to review, revise, and adopt the Subarea Plan, Map Amendments, and Code Amendments later in 2022.
