Community Climate Resilience Grants

Fund meant to serve as a resource for frontline communities to develop new or expand on existing community-based climate resilience projects.

The Community Climate Resilience (CCR) Grant Program is a fund to help create new or grow existing community-based climate justice projects.

This fund is for those that are unjustly affected by climate change due to existing and historic racial, social, environmental, and economic factors.

Funding details:

  • Tier 1: $5,000 - $9,999
  • Tier 2: $10,000 - $15,999
  • Tier 3: $20,000 - $30,000

Who is eligible to apply

Eligible applicants must:

  • Have 501(c)3 nonprofit status; or
  • Have a fiscal sponsor with 501(c)3 nonprofit status; or
  • Be willing and able to secure a fiscal sponsor with 501(c)3 nonprofit status by December 1, 2023, if awarded a grant.

Eligible projects

These are examples of eligible projects but the grant program funding is not limited to these options. To learn about eligible projects, review the CCR Grant Program Guide.

  • Leadership development trainings to prepare community members to actions for climate resilience
  • Create or grow youth development programs to elevate youth voices around climate action
  • Provide training materials to prepare frontline communities for emergency events and climate-related health impacts
  • Strategizing and/or development of climate resilient infrastructure for frontline communities
  • Build energy literacy in frontline communities to develop leadership capacity for taking actions towards energy justice systems

Grant application schedule

  • Open application period:  Tuesday, October 10 – Friday, November10
  • Q&A online webinars: Friday, October 6 at 1 pm, Tuesday, October 10 at 5 pm

  • Application scoring & reviewing: Monday, October 30 – Friday, November 10
  • Notification of awardees: by Friday, November 30
  • Project deadline: December 31, 2024

Key program dates

  • Mid-point progress meeting: between June – August
    • Virtual meeting to provide general updates on the progress of the project. Meetings will be recorded.
  • Project deadline: December 31, 2024
  • Final reporting meetings: Between January – February 2025
    • Prior to the final reporting meeting, a set of guiding questions and success measurement rubric will be provided to grantees to complete. This is a required portion of the program.
    • Meetings will be recorded.
