King County Parks Legacy Bench Donation Program

Donating a Legacy Bench provides a lasting and memorable way to acknowledge a friend, family member, or assist other community members in King County while supporting King County Parks.

Please note: Legacy Bench requests must be for King County Parks or Trails only. Please visit the King County Parks Finder Online Map for a list of King County Parks and Trails.

Program Details

New Bench with plaque in a new location: $5,000

Currently no bench is located there. The price includes the cost of the bench, a 4” x 6” cast iron bronze memorial plaque with inscription, freight, installation on a concrete pad, and maintenance for 10 years.

Refurbished Bench with plaque in an existing location: $3,500

Refurbish an existing bench. The price includes the cost to repair an existing bench and install the recognition plaque. If no repairs are needed at the time of donation, the funds will be retained for future maintenance and refurbishment of the bench up for up to 10 years.

Upon receipt and pending weather conditions, it will take approximately 4-8 weeks to complete installation. Once the bench is installed, the donor will receive a letter of dedication and a photo of the bench.

Service Life

Benches become property of King County Parks once they are installed. King County Parks will maintain the bench for up to 10 years. When the bench reaches it’s 10-year term, donor will have an opportunity to renew the bench dedication for $2,500 or have the plaque removed and returned at no cost to donor. If donor chooses to renew the bench dedication after its initial 10-year term, King County Parks will continue to maintain the bench until it is deemed unsafe or unusable.

Plaque Replacement

King County Parks will not pay for the replacement of damaged plaques. A new plaque may be purchased for $200 when a new order form is submitted for plaque to be replaced.
