Fire contained at Brightwater Treatment Plant after plastic pipes caught on fire during fusing

Summary

There are no reported serious injuries following a fire at King County’s Brightwater Treatment Plant that occurred when a contractor was fusing plastic pipes.

Story

Snohomish Regional Fire District and cooperating agencies contained a fire that broke out this morning at King County’s Brightwater Treatment Plant near Woodinville when a contractor was fusing plastic pipes. No one was injured during the fire.

The fire occurred in an area that is closed during construction so it has not impacted plant operations.

Plant employees immediately contacted Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue when the first started at about 10:53 a.m.

Brightwater Treatment Plant is located north of Woodinville, just across the Snohomish County line. It supports King County’s regional treatment system by letting operators shift flows from South Treatment Plant in Renton and West Point Treatment Plant near Discovery Park in Seattle.
