Insights and Analytics

The Performance and Strategy section offers technical assistance and consultative services to King County agencies and other jurisdictions in support of data-driven decision-making. In addition to managing countywide data efforts, such as the Employee Engagement Survey, the Performance and Strategy section offers the following custom-designed services:

  • Visual management support

The Performance and Strategy section's robust research plans for data collection can be used to make decisions about:

  • Changes to internal operations, services, and policies
  • Attitudes, opinions, or values in different demographic groups
  • Demand for services and willingness to pay
  • Program evaluation

Quantitative Data: Drawing Stories out of Numbers

The Performance and Strategy section provides customized research support for gathering quantitative data primarily through survey design and development.

Our section can assist King County agencies and other jurisdictions through all the steps of the surveying process:

  • Developing a survey plan, including questionnaire design
  • Survey administration and deployment;
  • Receiving and tabulating results; and
  • Analyzing results and drawing insights.

In addition to tailored surveys, our team manages the enterprise-wide Employee Engagement Survey, as well as a number of customer satisfaction surveys.

Qualitative Data: Drawing Stories out of Language

The Performance and Strategy section provides customized support for gathering qualitative data through focus groups and in-depth interviews.

Our section assists agencies through the steps of a qualitative research plan, including:

  • Session design and logistics
  • Questionnaire design
  • Session facilitation
  • Transcription and coding analysis

Data from focus groups and in-depth interviews are a great complement to quantitative survey efforts.

Translating Data into Insights that Drive Performance

The Performance and Strategy section provides customized consultative services to King County agencies and other jurisdictions on data analysis and visualization, including guidance and coaching on:

  • Parsing through large data sets
  • Data cleaning
  • Disaggregation and cross-tabulation of data
  • Data visualization tools and techniques
  • Metric development
  • Creating measurement plans
