September 12, 2023: Updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 Vaccine
CDC recommends everyone 6 months and older get an updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect against the newer variants and potentially serious COVID-19 illness this fall and winter.
Supply is limited while vaccine is being shipped. Check with your pharmacy, healthcare provider, or visit Vaccines.gov to search for appointments.

COVID-19 vaccine options
- Everyone age 6 months and older is currently eligible for COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots. You can get vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna, and Novavax.
- The new 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine is currently available from Moderna and Pfizer. Note: Vaccination providers may not have every brand available.
Vaccines for immunocompromised people
CDC recommends that anyone ages 6 months and older who have moderately or severely weakened immune systems (immunocompromised) get a third dose of vaccine. The third shot is part of their initial vaccine series, not a booster.
Immune compromised children and adults should also get booster doses when eligible.
Cost of vaccine
Most insurance will cover the cost of COVID-19 vaccine, including Medicare and Medicaid/CHIP (“Apple Health”). Remember to bring your insurance card or information to your appointment!
Uninsured and underinsured adults can get COVID-19 vaccine at no cost from:
- CVS, Walgreens, and some independent pharmacies
- Community Health Centers
- Public Health Kent COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic
- Check Vaccines.gov for locations offering no cost “Bridge Access vaccine appointments
Children aged 18 and younger can get COVID-19 vaccine at no cost from:
- Providers in the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program. Visit kingcounty.gov/findaclinic to find a “Vaccine provider for uninsured/underinsured children”.
- School Based Health Centers
