KING COUNTY CODE 2.15 Immigrant, Refugees and Language Access Ordinance

KING COUNTY CODE 2.15 Immigrant, Refugees and Language Access Ordinance

Overview of KCC 2.15:

On February 26, 2018, the Metropolitan King County Council adopted ordinance 18665 to ensure that King County’s data and limited resources are not used to assist with the Federal Government’s deportation agenda. The ordinance, which was codified as KCC § 2.15, to protect our residents and enhance community trust. As such, it outlines requirements for how county departments and separately elected agencies are to service immigrants and refugees, including the provision of language access services. All executive branch departments and separately elected agencies are expected to comply with this section of the code.

To ensure full compliance with the code, including many complicated and technical implications, the Office of Equity and Social Justice (OESJ) has created a toolkit of guidance and resource documents. In addition, OESJ will review and assess departments and agency plans.
