2018 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration
31st Annual MLK Celebration
January 11, 2018
King County celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 11, 2018 at the Sanctuary. Dr. King’s legacy was honored through the lens of the quote:
True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice.
For the first time, the MLK Celebration included "Conversation Cafes," where King County employees could explore issues of race, equity, and justice in small groups of peers. These Conversation Cafes will be an ongoing part of the county's equity and social justice work, as outlined in the ESJ Strategic Plan.
