Discharge limits and prohibited discharges
King County imposes limits on certain pollutants and prohibits discharge of wastes that adversely affect the operations of treatment works and collection system. Local limits and prohibitions apply to all facilities that discharge industrial wastewater to King County's sewage system.
Local limits and prohibitions are in addition to federal limits on pollutants.
Local Limits are established for:
- Heavy metals and cyanide
- Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG)
- Corrosives (pH)
- Hydrogen sulfide
- Organic Compounds
- Settleable solids
The discharge of wastes that pass through or interfere with publically owned treatment works operations is prohibited. Specific prohibitions include the following items:
