Equity and Social Justice in the Solid Waste Division
The Solid Waste Division respects and provides equitable services and opportunities for all
In 2016, King County published its first Equity and Social Justice (ESJ) Strategic Plan to ensure fairer outcomes in policy direction, planning, and organizational structures.
In alignment with the county's pro-equity vision, the Solid Waste Division developed its own ESJ Strategic Plan Download PDF 1 MB in 2019, which outlines goal areas specific to some of the division's core business functions, including:
- Employee hiring, growth and development
- Rate structures and capital project planning
- Contracts and procurement
- Employee training requirements
- Customer service
- Community engagement and outreach
The division's plan serves as a blueprint for setting work priorities and holding teams accountable for meeting performance measures around equity and social justice.
