King County repair events

At free community repair events, skilled volunteer "fixers" try to repair and mend your small household and personal items.

King County’s repair events program has ended for 2023. We expect to hold more repair events in 2024, March through September. Check this web page in December or early 2024 to see where those events are scheduled.

This program started in 2016 and has held 81 free repair events, in 26 different cities and communities in King County. For the full list of dates and locations of past King County-sponsored repair events see below.

King County program partners include: King County Library System; the Bellevue-based Chinese youth organization Little Masters Club; and Bellevue-based Indian American Community Services.

Other area organizations and tool libraries offer their own separate programs of repair events or gatherings. Those organizations include Phinney Neighborhood Association in north Seattle, South King Tool Library in Federal Way, Tacoma Tool Library, Vashon Tool Library and WSU Snohomish County Extension. Contact those organizations or tool libraries directly for more info on those events.

Also, for many types of items, area businesses offer repair services for a fee. Many of these businesses are listed in the King County repair businesses directory, which has 18 different categories. Support those businesses, if you can!

At King County’s repair events, items that can potentially be worked on include household and personal items that are small enough to be carried in by one person, including certain electronics, small furniture and clothing/textiles. There are no reservations, but an advance sign-up (one per person) gives priority over walk-ins or second items.

At these free repair events, we may decline to work on any item - in advance or at the event - depending on the item, the type of repair needed, the fixers available, or for other reasons. More details about what we can and can’t work on will be posted here as the new events are scheduled.
