About
Sammamish was incorporated in August 1999. Since that time, its population has grown rapidly from 35,000 residents to nearly 68,000 today. Including the surrounding unincorporated communities on the plateau, we serve a population of over 70,000 people. It is the Sheriff’s Office largest city partner. Its commercial base continues to grow, along with the ongoing development of the Town Center, featuring a mix of residential and commercial buildings.
Sammamish has a very large youth population per capita. Sammamish is recognized for its exceptional schools, which include two public high schools, one private high school, 12 secondary schools, and a Central Washington University campus. Within the next year a fourth high school will be completed on the Sammamish/Issaquah border on 228th SE. The city is staffed with three full time school resource officers who are active in all city schools.
Safewise.com has listed Sammamish as the number one safest city in Washington for 2022. This is the second year in a row.
