King County is working across government jurisdictions and collaborating with a diverse set of partners including businesses, non-profits organizations, community-based organizations, coalitions, and collaborative working groups to address the impacts of climate change and advance regional climate action.

King County-Cities Climate Collaboration (K4C)

King County and sixteen partners — Bellevue, Burien, Issaquah, Kenmore, Kent, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Normandy Park, Port of Seattle, Redmond, Renton, Sammamish, Seattle, Shoreline, Snoqualmie, and Tukwila — are collaborating through the King County-Cities Climate Collaboration (K4C) to coordinate and enhance the effectiveness of local government climate and sustainability action.

Safe Energy Leadership Alliance (SELA)

The Safe Energy Leadership Alliance (SELA) is a coalition of local, state, and tribal leaders from across the Northwest and British Columbia working together to raise awareness for the safety risks of oil and coal transportation.

SELA represents a broad range of urban and rural areas with different interests but a shared mission—to protect the health and safety of our communities. SELA and its efforts are led by King County Executive Dow Constantine.

Puget Sound Climate Preparedness Collaborative

The Puget Sound Climate Preparedness Collaborative is a network of local and tribal governments, regional agencies, and organizations working together to enhance regional coordination and advance climate change preparedness in Puget Sound.

Community-based organizations

King County has been working with communities to address their climate-related needs and concerns through developing culturally relevant materials on climate change, establishing collaborative partnerships, and supporting leadership of diverse King County residents.

University of Washington Climate Impacts Group (UWCIG)

Understanding how climate change affects King County communities and government services is critical to building an effective response to climate change. King County partners with the University of Washington Climate Impacts Group , which works directly with public sector agencies, tribal agencies, the private sector, non-profit groups, and other academic institutions to produce the knowledge, tools, and capacity that decision makers need to reduce climate risk.
