Drainage Districts Candidate Filing Period
December 11-15, 2023

In accordance with the provisions of RCW 85.38.070 and 85.38.120, King County Elections announces there will be an election on February 6, 2024, for:

  • King County Drainage District No. 1
    • Commissioner Position No. 2, full 6-year term
  • King County Drainage District No. 2
    • Commissioner Position No. 1, full 6-year term
    • Commissioner Position No. 2, unexpired 4-year term
    • Commissioner Position No. 3, unexpired 2-year term
  • King County Drainage District No. 5-5A
    • Commissioner Position No. 1, full 6-year term
  • King County Drainage District No. 6
    • Commissioner Position No. 1, full 6-year term
  • King County Drainage District No. 7
    • Commissioner Position No. 1, full 6-year term
    • Commissioner Position No. 2, unexpired 4-year term
  • King County Drainage District No. 13
    • Commissioner Position No. 1, full 6-year term

The candidate filing period will begin on Monday, December 11, at 8:30 a.m. and will end at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023. No filing fee is charged. Candidates who wish to file must complete a Drainage District Declaration of Candidacy . Declarations must be in the Elections Office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023. Postmarks do not satisfy this requirement.

A 150-word candidate statement may also be submitted. The deadline to submit the statement is Friday, December 15, 2023, by 4:30 p.m.

The deadline to withdraw from office is Monday, December 18, 2023, by 4:30 p.m. To withdraw, you must submit a signed request  that your name be removed from the ballot.

Recount information

The Enumclaw School District No. 216 Director District No. 4 race is scheduled for a mandatory machine recount. Recount preparation and the machine count will begin on Friday, August 18 at 9:00 a.m.

The King County Canvassing Board will meet on Tuesday, August 22 at 8:30 a.m. to certify the recount results.
