King County Elections Certifies December Recall Election
King County Elections (KCE) certified the 2021 December Recall election on Friday, December 17. Seattle City Council District 3 voters returned 41,517 ballots for a turnout of 53.5%.
King County Elections Certifies November General Election, Plans for Recounts
King County Elections (KCE) certified the 2021 November General election on Tuesday, November 23. Over 616,000 voters returned their ballots, marking a countywide turnout of 44%. This turnout is in line with previous odd year elections with 2019’s turnout hitting 49% and 2017’s turnout of 43%.
King County Elections Mails Ballots for December Recall Election
King County Elections (KCE) mailed ballots to over 76,000 registered voters in Seattle City Council District 3 for the December 7 recall election. Only voters registered in Seattle City Council District 3 are eligible to vote in this election. They will be weighing in on the question of whether to recall City Councilmember Kshama Sawant.
Vote Center at Lumen Field Event Center and Five Other Locations to Open Saturday, October 30 for General Election
King County Elections will open six Vote Center locations to register voters, issue replacement ballots, and provide assistive voting devices for those with disabilities at Lumen Field Event Center in Seattle and other locations throughout King County.
Online and mail voter registration deadline for General election– Monday, October 25
The General Election is quickly approaching with ballots due to drop boxes by 8 p.m. sharp or postmarked by Tuesday, November 2. The deadline to register to vote online or by mail (received, not postmarked) is Monday, October 25.
King County Elections Mails General Election Ballots
King County Elections (KCE) mailed out nearly 1.4 million ballots to registered voters across King County today for the 2021 General election. KCE is projecting 46% turnout for this election. In 2019, the General saw a final turnout of 49% and 2017 reached 43%.
King County Elections Certifies Recall Petition for Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant and Prepares for December Recall Election
King County Elections (KCE) certified the recall petition filed earlier this year against Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant. 10,687 valid signatures from Seattle City Council District 3 registered voters were required to send the recall issue to voters. Petitioners submitted over 16,000 signatures to be verified in early September.
King County Elections Announces Special Filing Period for Select Offices
King County Elections will hold a special candidate filing period for those offices that drew no candidates during the regular filing period in May 2021.
Online and mail voter registration deadline -- Monday, July 26 for Primary Election
Those who wish to vote in the August 3 Primary election have until Monday, July 26 to register online or have their mailed registration form received by King County Elections.
King County Elections, King County Library System, and Councilmember Upthegrove Open New Ballot Drop Box at Kent Panther Lake Library
King County Elections (KCE), King County Library System (KCLS), and Councilmember Dave Upthegrove celebrated a ballot drop box opening at the Kent Panther Lake Library today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The celebration took place on the same day that drop boxes across King County opened for ballots.
King County Elections Mails Primary Ballots to More Than 1.4 Million Voters
King County Elections (KCE) mailed out over 1.4 million ballots to registered voters across King County today for the 2021 Primary election. KCE is projecting 40% turnout for this election. In 2019, the Primary saw a final turnout of 35% and 2017 reached 34%.
King County Elections and Seattle Foundation Award Nearly $1 million in Grants to Reduce Barriers to Voting Among Marginalized Communities
King County Elections (KCE) and the Seattle Foundation announce the recipients of $990,000 in grants for voter engagement and education work in marginalized and underrepresented communities. A total of 30 organizations were selected out of 62 applicants for the Voter Education Fund’s next two-year cycle.

Candidate filing starts on Monday
The candidate filing week for 2021 begins on Monday, May 17 and closes on Friday, May 21. The deadline to withdraw one's candidacy is Monday, May 24.
April Special Election Logic & Accuracy Test Tomorrow
King County Elections will perform the county's official logic and accuracy testing on ballot counting and processing equipment at 1 p.m. tomorrow, April 13, at the King County Elections office, 919 SW Grady Way in Renton.
